Here is a gorgeous cobalt blue transferware platter, 15 x 12 inches, from the Davenport pottery. It bears the anchor mark that was used up to 1860, so we know it dates to that or earlier.
The scene is named Fishermen and Mosque. Three eastern figures are at work paddling a flat bottomed boat on a stream before an impressive mosque. A rose border is featured on the surround.
It is free of all chips and cracks. Glaze on this beauty is entirely shiny with absolutely no utensil marks. It don't think it has ever been used! |
