Circa: 1834-48 Condition: Excellent antique condition Manufacturer: Thomas Mayer
Here is a Staffordshire blue transferware sugar bowl in the Canova pattern. It is said that that name derives from a famous artist who was cremated; hence, the prominent urn in all scenes.
We do not have the lid. When purchased, it did have a lid as pictured in the last shot; however, this is not the right one. It is the teapot lid, so we are offering it separately.
The sugarbowl measures 7 inches wide by 5 inches tall. It is in memarkably great condition - a tiny little ding to the lid ledge, a little bit of rubbing on the handles. No other flaws.
It was made in the Thomas Mayer pottery and bears its backstamp. This firm operated from 1834 to 48. |
