Circa: 1832-5 Manufacturer: Ralph Stevenson
This large pink transferware soup plate measures 11 inches across its widest point. The irregularly scalloped rim is very pretty as is the surround. Columns of peacock feathers alternate with floral areas.
The central scene shows a classic buildings along a river; hence, the title, Cologne. It was made in the pottery of Ralph Stevenson and Son. It operated from 1832 to 1835, making this a very old plate.
The underside foot rim has three little chips, not seen unless upended. Also there is a small mar to the white part in the well at 9:00 o'clock. See the picture.
