Circa: 1825 Manufacturer: Ralph Stevenson & Williams
Presented is a lovely and early dark blue transfer deep sipping saucer measuring 5 1/2 inches wide by 1 inch deep. The center is very flat so the vase-and-flower image against a stippled ground displays beautifully. The surround has flowers and scrolls.
I am presenting one saucer here, but I have three in fine shape to sell. One bears a "Stone China" mark. This was a common backstamp on early wares. It does not specify a particular potter. I believe this is the produce of the Stevenson and Williams pottery; however, it might be another of the early potters. Each saucer bears an imprinted H. Each is finely potted with pearlware glaze evident.
I have a fourth saucer with a hairline which does not interfere with display. If someone buys all three of the saucers that are in excellent condition, I will throw in the fourth one free. The last image shows all of them together. |
