Circa: 1854 Condition: Fair Antique Condition Manufacturer: J. Wedgwood
This large Staffordshire white ironstone vegetable tureen was made in the Davenport pottery. It registered it in 1854. The tureen is 13 inches long by 8 inches tall.
The classic design involves ogee shapes on the sides and domed lid. The finial is oval with a stylized flower on the top, a wonderful addition. Also of interest are the highly embossed handles.
It is marked with the J. Wedgwood imprint. Condition is fair. The only flaw to mention falls somewhere between crazing lines and a hairline. It affects a small area of the rim and appears inside but doesn't penetrate to the outside. See the picture. |
