Circa: 1860s Condition: Excellent antique condition Manufacturer: Challilnor pottery
This gorgeous bi-color, green and brown transferware Staffordshire platter was made in the Edward Challinor pottery. It dates to the 1862 - 70 period. The central river scene is done in extremely fine detail in dark brown.
The surround, done in two tones of green, light and medium, features elaborate scrolling.
There are no chips or cracks. Some utensil marks and glaze irregularities are evident. It is marked with the Challinor backstamp and pattern name, Sciro.
The platter measures 16 by just shy of 12 inches. |
