This gorgeous oval blue transferware Staffordshire platter measures 15 1/2 by 12 1/4 inches. The potter is Deakin & Sons whose firm operated from 1833 to 1841.
Its pattern features three figures in a formal garden setting with moorish buildings along a river in the background.
The surround has scenic areas that alternate with scrolling, diapering, and flowers. A pretty fan shape element appears at four points on the surround.
Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairines, stains, or restoration. |
