Manufacturer: Davenport This beautiful underplate or cracker tray was originally paired with a large oval soup tureen of the same shape. We are offering it alone.

It measures 14 1/4 inches long by 10 1/2 inches wide. Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restoration. Glaze is very shiny and free of marks.
The shape is Scalloped Decagon, also called Cambridge Shape. This item was potted during the 1850 decade. Note the elaborate embossing on the loop handles and the irregular scallop shape on the tray. It has a prominent inner ridge to hold the base of the soup tureen. The underside bears the backstamp of the Davenport pottery and the English registry mark as well. |
