This blue transfer plate measures 9 inches across. It was made in the Wood and Challinor pottery, which operated from 1828 to 1843.
The romantic pattern is entitled Mesina. The design, done in light blue, features two rather different buildings. One is gothic; the other oriental in design. Two figures appear in the foreground. The surround has web-like foliates with star-shaped flowers superimposed.
Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restoration. |
