Here is a prized pattern in a rare size, 6 1/2 inches wide. The pattern is Millenium, a misspelling of Millennium. The pattern was made to show the biblical prophecy predicting the second coming of Christ who would rule for a thousand years. At the top is the all-seeing eye of God. In the center is a child and lambs with a lion. Beneath is a praying figure and "Give us this day our daily Bread." On the surround are images of plenty - fruit and flowers.
This plate was made in the pottery of Ralph Stevenson & Son. It dates to 1832 - 35.
There is a flaw on the back side, a small chip to the edge. It does not show from the front. Usually, this pattern sells for a very high price. Given the flaw, the price is right.
The color is light on medium purple with some areas of dappled color variation as is often found with purple transfer. |
