The transfer pattern is entitled The Shield. It was made in the pottery of B. & J. Burton whose pottery operated from 1832 - 45.
It is in excellent condition, free of all chips, cracks, and hairlines. The scene features two figures before a gothic castle. It appears in an oval operture, surrounded by scrolling and flowers. The surround has scenic designs separated by foliates.
The edge is irregularly scalloped and beaded. That, coupled with its shape - flat bottomed with a raised surround, make it lovely for a wall or shelf display. |
