Here is a lovely octagonal blue transfer high compote measuring 11 1/2 inches wide by 5 inches tall. Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restoration.
The romantic pattern features a mother and child in a garden setting. The sides have a moss-like pattern with superimposed stylized floral elements.
We love the octagonal shape of this vessel. The four wide panels have scenes on the side.
It is marked with the pattern name and pottery. Several of the Adams sons took over the pottery during most of the 19th century, so dating it by pottery name does little good. By its characteristics, this piece dates to the 1845 to 1855 period. |
