Manufacturer: T. J. & J. Mayer, Staffordshire potters
Here is a 9 1/2 inch ironstone blue transferware Staffordshire plate made in the pottery of Thomas, John, and Joseph Mayer. It dates to 1843 - 55. It is in fine shape. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restoration.
The scene features a castle - like building on a river with elms and distant mountains. The surround has a linear background with scrolls and swags on top. The ironstone body is octagonal in shape with a border and panels. The backstamp gives the potter and scene name.
