Here is an oval Staffordshire white ironstone lid measuring 6 1/4 long by 3 3/4 inches wide. One would think it to be a sauce tureen lid; however, it does not have a cut-out, so it is probably a soap dish lid. It would fit into a space measuring 5 1/4 by 3 3/4 inches.
Condition is excellent - no flaws. This is Wheat and Hops Shape. It is not marked, so I cannot tell you the potter since several made this shape: Meakin, Furnival, Taylor, Cochran, Pearson, Oulsam, and Clementson. |
