Manufacturer: John Alcock, Staffordshire potter
The sauce tureen pedestal presented measures 8 1/2 inches across the raised handles. This sauce tureen underplate has an inner ridge to hold an octagonal base measuring 4 inches wide from corner to corner across two opposing angles of the base in place.
It bears the imprinted mark of the John Alcock pottery who produced the Gothic Cameo Shape and dates to the 1840's and 1850's.
Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restorations with the exception of a little flake on the foot ring, visible only if the plate is upended. It is shown in close-up. |
