The unique pattern is prized by collectors on nineteenth century Staffordshire transferware; however, the specific potter has yet to be identified. The central scene, presented in a rectangular frame, features a peasant family before an open campfire and hut. The surround has pebble-like patterning with scrolling.
This platter is in great shape, free of chips and cracks. The glaze on the face is very smooth and shiny.
The back side shows a y-shaped glaze line that does not penetrate the earthenware body to the front. Glaze is quite shiny.
