This 9" wide red transferware plate depicts a rural cabin view. It is entitled View Near Conway, New Hampshire, U. S. It was made in the William Adams and his sons William and Thomas. These Adamses operated Greenfield Works at Tunstall from 1834 - 53, the years of production for the American Views Series.
Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restorations. The scene shows a log cabin in a mountainous setting. A young couple stands in the foreground. The surround has a white border with dimensional beading on an irregularly scalloped rim. The backstamp includes the American eagle cartouch and the impressed Adams mark. |
