This pretty little plate is ten sided. The pattern is Corinth, a romantic design featuring classic images of a pillared building, arches bridge, and mountainous setting. The surround has a pleasing design that radiates and has the appearance of splashing water with floral images superimposed.
The plates measures 4 1/2 inches wide and stands 3/4 inch tall. Because of the height, it displays well on a wall with the surround dimensionally framing the interior scene.
It was made in the James Edwards pottery whose imprinted backstamp is evident. This pottery operated from 1842 to 1851.
Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restorations. |
