Presented is a heavy ironstone plate, 8 1/2 inches wide. It is a bi-color transfer in green and red.
The pattern is Eon, a design featuring a rural windmill setting. The center, done in green, depicts several figures at a rural encampment. A windmill appears behind. The surround has scenic areas that alternate with windmill views in red. The place is twelve-sided and bordered on the edge.
This plate was made in the pottery of George Wooliscroft. It dates to 1851 - 64. Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restorations. |
