Here is an early red transfer plate, Asiatic Scenery. It was made in the pottery of Job and John Jackson, 1831 - 35.
The plate is 9 inches wide. It is in excellent condition, free of chips and cracks. It shows some utensil scratching upon close examination. It appears on the white part just below the large tree image.
The exotic images of minarets and domes along a river are embellished with florals and foliates. The surround has more flowers on a stippled ground. |
