Here we present a mulberry, also known as flow black, plate measuring 10 inches wide. It is a fourteen-sided ironstone plate that was made in the pottery of E. Challinor. It dates to the 1850's.
The Pelew pattern is a chinoiserie design of Asian buildings, willow-type foliage, and an arched bridge. Foliates and florals decorate the paneled surround.
It is in fine condition, free of chips, cracks, hairlines, and restorations. |
