Here is a beautiful early two color transfer plate. It measures 9 1/4 inches wide and bears in imprint of the Adams pottery. It dates to the 1830's.
The series has several scenes, all of which feature guards before a stylized building. They appear in native garb in all scenes. This one shows them in a relaxed pose. The center is red transfer. The surround, done in greet, shows flowers alternating with scenic areas. The edge has an irregular scallop, white border, and dimensional beading typical of the early period.
It is in fine shape, fre of chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, and restorations. |
