Manufacturer: Staffordshire
Here is a blue transfer plate measuring 9 1/4 inches wide. It was made in the William Ridgway pottery and dates to 1830 - 34. The pretty Oriental design features stylized Asian buildings and a pagoda in the background.
Particularly beautiful are the intertwined swag designs on the surround - very feminine.
It is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, and restorations. The glaze is quite shiny and entirely free of utensil scratching. It is marked with pattern name and pottery initials as well.
The body is heavy ironstone. In addition to the patterning, the body is also panelled on the surround. |
