By its earthenware body, its shape, and its embossed lion handles, we would date it to the 1815 - 30 period. It is unmarked. Unfortunately, we do not have the lid. It measures 7 inches long ny 4 1/2 inches tall. It is in good shape. It has the expected little dings to the lid ledge, and there is one small chip to the side as pictured. The scene features a girl who is picking wild flowers in a woodland setting. A distinctive swag of wildflowers separates the scene from floral areas. The apron also has floral designs. It is marked with the Clews imprint. |
