Here is a dark green transfer cup and saucer that was made in the early Wedgwood Pottery. The pattern is Chinese Baroque. It dates to the 1830's. This beautiful transferware cup and deep sipping saucer is of the highest quality and sharpest design. It has a late chinoiserie-style pattern The saucer measures 5 1/2 wide by 1 inch tall. The cup is 4 1/2 wide by 2 1/2 inches tall.
The scene depicts two Oriental buildings on river's edge. A sailboat and other romantic elements appear in the background. Stylized flowers and scrolls decorate the surround. It is marked with the Wedgwood imprint in capital letters, and a triangular mark. Pearlware glaze is evident.
Condition is excellent: no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or repairs.
