It dates to the 1830's. This beautiful transferware cup and deep sipping saucer is of the highest quality and sharpest design. It has a late chinoiserie-style pattern The saucer measures 5 1/2 wide by 1 inch tall. The cup is 4 1/2 wide by 2 1/2 inches tall.
The scene depicts two Oriental buildings on river's edge. A sailboat and other romantic elements appear in the background. Stylized flowers and scrolls decorate the surround. It is marked with the Wedgwood imprint in capital letters, and a triangular mark. Pearlware glaze is evident.
Condition is excellent: no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or repairs.
