We are happy to offer one in excellent condition. It measures 12 inches wide by 3 inches tall.
The rim has dimensional beading with blue color along the rim and in the crannies of the beading. Featheredge ware or shell edge ware, as it is also called, most typically has incised lines. This one is therefore somewhat unique because of the dimensional beading. It is unmarked except for an imprinted number 11. This is a designation of its size.
This early bowl dates to the late 1700s or early 1800s. It is in fine condition, free of chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, and restorations. There is minimal wear to the blue edge and a bit of underglaze black soot-like bits at one point on the exterior of the edge. See the close-up. This is a product of the firing process and is not damage. |
