Here is a large blue and white plate made in the pottery of William Adams & Sons, circa 1845. It measures 10 inches wide. This is a heavy ironstone plate with 14 sides. Note the dark blue color and the slight flow. Also of interest are the floral transfers on the back stide. It is marked with the garter backstamp of the pottery with pattern and pottery names. There is also an imprinted pottery stamp.
The Japanesque pattern includes an Asian buildings, a classic urn, oversized flowers, and a framing tree. The surround is panelled and has florals and urns.
It is in fine condition, free of chips and cracks. Glaze is shiny. There is one tiny nibble on the rim, very small, and mentioned for accuracy. See the picture.
