Here is a pretty toddy plate made in the Adams pottery and dating to the 1830 - 50 period. The pattern is Palestine, a design that features a river scene with exotic images of minarets on the surround. Red stippling is separated from the images by an elaborate undulating band. The central scene features several figures by a river with a gazebo to the left.
It is marked with the Adams imprint and measures 5 inches wide. Toddy plates are a bit wider and deeper than cup plates; however, they served the same purpose - that of holding a toddy cup. It is in good condition with one extremely small and shallow chip on the rim. See the last picture for a close-up.
