Presented is a brown transfer cup plate made in the pottery of Charles Meigh and dating to 1835 - 1849. The design is entitled Scroll Frond Border.
It measures 4" wide and is in excellent condition, free of all flaws.
The design features the ruin of a gothic church in the background. In the foreground a man, dog, and boy appear to be engaged in fishing off a bluff by a river. The surround has a scrolling pattern on a dotted background. The design was named for this border rather than for the scene itself, which is more typical.
Our romantic Staffordshire brown and white china dates to the Nineteenth Century. We guarantee our antique transferware, ironstone, soft paste china, and creamware to be authentic antiques, accurately described. |
