This is a fine mulberry plate measuring 9 1/2" in diameter. We have several of this pattern, some bearing the cartouche with the pattern name, others without it. The potter is S. & S., Scott Brothers, Southwick Pottery, Sunderland, 1829 - 1838. The pattern features three cows in the foreground with an arched bridge, castle, and other romantic element in the distance. The title of this beautiful pattern commemorates a famous British castle.
