Red and pink transfer designs were not as popular during the Nineteenth Century as was blue transferware. Many patterns, however, were produced in these hues,which ranges from cranberry to light pink.

Alcock Pink Transfeware 9 1/2 Inch Plate, JAPANESE, c. 1830 - 59 Here is a fine 9 1/2 inch Staffordshire pink transferware plate with a floral pattern entitled Japanese. The stylistic design features two major blooms in a trapezoidal base. The surround has parrots and scrolled images. Some areas are pink with white scrolling while others have dark scrolling in shades of purple against the pink. The parrots appear on the white parts of the surround.

The pink tone of this plate tends toward the purple side rather than the red side.

It is marked with pattern name and pottery initials. Condition is excellent - no flaws.

Staffordshire Adams Red Transfer Toddy Plate PALESTINE Here is a pretty toddy plate made in the Adams pottery and dating to the 1830 - 50 period. The pattern is Palestine, a design that features a river scene with exotic images of minarets on the surround. Red stippling is separated from the images by an elaborate undulating band. The central scene features several figures by a river with a gazebo to the left.

It is marked with the Adams imprint and measures 5 inches wide. Toddy plates are a bit wider and deeper than cup plates; however, they served the same purpose - that of holding a toddy cup. It is in good condition with one extremely small and shallow chip on the rim. See the last picture for a close-up.

Adams Red Transferware Plate, TEMPLE WARRIORS Here is a prized pattern, Temple Warriors. It measures 9 inches wide. This plate was made in the early years of the William Adams pottery and dates to the 1820 - 40 period. Condition is excellent.

It is a fabulous pattern. Actually, it was never named by the Adams pottery, but it has come to be known as Temple Warriors. Two figures in elaborate garb and headdress appears to be taking a break from their duties before a stylized temple, spears in hand.

The surround is highly scalloped, dimensionally beaded, and bordered in white. These aspects add to the beauty and charm of the plate. We have two of these plates, so if you want both, please let us know.

c. 1845 Joseph Heath Pink Transferware Plate, MONTEREY Here is a pretty pink transfer plate in the Monterey pattern. It was made in the pottery of Joseph Heath, 1845 - 53.

The plate measures 9 1/2 inches wide and is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, and restorations. Glaze is entirely shiny. The pink color of this plate ranges from dark pink to very light pink.

The design features four figures on the banks of a river in a mountainous area. A castle appears in the background. The surround has a linear patterning with scenic areas and scrolling. The ironstone body of the plate is both bordered and paneled.

The backstamp gives the pattern and pottery names. It is also imprinted with the J. Heath mark.

Staffordshire Pink Transferware Plate, TUSCANY This pink transfer plate measures 9 inches wide. It was mad in the pottery of John Maddock. The imprinted backstamp is the one used by the pottery prior to the name change to Maddock & Sons. The date of the plate's potting therefore is 1842 - 1855.

The design features two figures on the banks of a river. The surround has foliate designs. It is 12-sided and panelled.

There are no chips or cracks, but utensil marks and crazing are evident.

Jackson 9 Inch Red Transferware Plate, ASIATIC SCENERY Here is an early red transfer plate, Asiatic Scenery. It was made in the pottery of Job and John Jackson, 1831 - 35.

The plate is 9 inches wide. It is in excellent condition, free of chips and cracks. It shows some utensil scratching upon close examination. It appears on the white part just below the large tree image.

The exotic images of minarets and domes along a river are embellished with florals and foliates. The surround has more flowers on a stippled ground.

Early Staffordshire Pink Transferware Plate, SICILIAN FLOWERS We present here a lovely floral Staffordshire 9 inch plate in vibrant pink transfer. The skillfully transferred and highly detailed. The pattern is entitled Sicilian Flowers. We have dealt in Staffordshire transferware for many years. This is the first time that we have seen this pattern.

Ths surround is bordered in white, highly scalloped, and dimensionally beaded. By its characteristics, we would date it to the 1820 - 30 period. The plate is in excellent condtion, free of chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, and restorations.

Enoch Wood & Son Red Transferware Plate, EUROPEAN SCENERY Presented is a red transfer plate, 9 1/4 inches wide. The scene features a couple on the lawn before a manor house. The surround has draped lace swags with morning glory and foliates.

The potter is Enoch Wood and Sons who produced this series, European Scenery. The pottery produced wares from 1818 until 1846.

The plate is in excellent condition, free of flaws.

W. Adams & Sons American Historical Red Transfer Plate, View Near Conway, New Hampshire, U.S. This 9" wide red transferware plate depicts a rural cabin view. It is entitled View Near Conway, New Hampshire, U. S. It was made in the William Adams and his sons William and Thomas. These Adamses operated Greenfield Works at Tunstall from 1834 - 53, the years of production for the American Views Series.

Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restorations. The scene shows a log cabin in a mountainous setting. A young couple stands in the foreground. The surround has a white border with dimensional beading on an irregularly scalloped rim. The backstamp includes the American eagle cartouch and the impressed Adams mark.

Staffordshire Red Transferware Plate, PANTHEON This red transfer plate measures 9 1/2 inches wide. The pattern is Pantheon, a design of classic images in a mountainous setting.

It was made in the potterh of Ridgway & Morley, c. 1842 - 44. Condition is very good. There is one indentation flaw of the face that was glazed over in the original firing. It has suffered no damage - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restorations.

Jacksons American Historical Staffordshire Plate, HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT The large purple transferware plate presented measures 10 1/4 inches wide. It depicts Hartford, Connecticut.

Job and John Jackson produced wares from 1831 to 1835, a short period for a pottery, yet they distinguished themselves during these short years as excellent potters. This is one of their American Scenery views.

It is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, hairlines, stains and restoration.

Morley Red Transferware Plate, ZAMARA Presented is a gorgeous red transfer soup plate with skilled clobbering in blue, yellow, and green. It is a twelve-sided plate measuring 9 1/2 inches wide by 1 inch tall. Soup plates of the period were quite flat. The design fits nicely into a plate rack or plate stand design for display.

This is an example of a Staffordshire star pattern. These designs look great when displayed together.

It was made in the pottery of Francis Morley and dates to 18454 - 58. It bears a backstamp that has the pattern name.

Condition is excellent. Glaze is entirely shiny, and it is free of utensil scratching.

Adams Pink Transferware Handled Platter, Temple Warriors, c. 1830 The little platter presented measures 9 by 7 inches. The pink transfer pattern is Temple Warriors. It is a design that was never named but has come to be known by the appellation. It was made in the Adams pottery and dates to the 1830s.

It is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, and restorations. The border has dimensional beading and a white border on the scalloped rim. The handles are nicely embossed.

Temple Warriors is a pattern with several views. Each involves one or more soldiers in native garb before an elaborate facade. The surround has large floral displays.

Copeland Spode Pink Transferware Large Staffordshire Platter, CAMILLA This large pink transferware platter measures 16 1/2 by 12 3/4 inches. The edge is nicely scalloped and bordered in a beaded pattern. The name reflects the central image, that of a tea leaf, Camilla sinesis.

This pattern was first produced by the Spode pottery in 1833. This particular platter was made by the manufactory that later took over the company. It is marked with the Copeland imprint. This platter dates to 1953.

Condition is fabulous - no chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, or restorations.
