TRANSFERWARE, FLOW BLUE AND MULBERRY

Photograph
Staffordshire Mulberry Transferware P...

Picture

The process for making mulberry and flow blue items is exactly the same as other transferware with one exception. During the first firing, lime or chloride of ammonia was introduced into the kiln, making the pattern "bleed" into the undecorated part of the earthenware. Such items were often disdained in England but prized in the U.S. where much of it was exported. In this category we list transferware with flow: flow blue and mulberry.
